[19p-W541-4] Current status and future perspective of the development of CIGS solar cells

It is necessary to achieve the efficiency of 20% for CIGS modules, in order to realize the power generation cost of 7 Yen/W which is the target in 2030 of NEDO PV Challenge, which corresponds to 25% for small sells. The improvement of existing technologies is not sufficient in order to realize such high efficiency, and hence it is necessary to achieve some drastic breakthrough including development of new materials and new device fabrication technologies. In this talk, we describe current status of the development of CIGS solar cells including our research results, and give the perspective of the necessary breakthrough in future.
