[20p-P5-3] Evaluation of elasto optic coefficients p₁₁ and p₁₂ in KTa_1-xNb_xO₃ by using space charge

We evaluated elasto optic coefficients of KTa_1-xNb_xO₃ (KTN) which are required for precise device simulation for optical beam deflectors and varifocal lenses using KTN single crystals. The coefficients were deduced from refractive index distributions generated in the crystal by a space charge. p₁₁was 0.52 and p₁₂ was 0.09. The fraction of genuine EO coefficients was estimated to be about 60 % of the apparent coefficient.
