We propose and demonstrate a method to stabilize the carrier envelope phase (CEP) of a high-energy femtosecond laser which has a very low repetition rate. By employing a high-repetition-rate reference pulse which has an orthogonal polarization to characterize CEP noises, the CEP of a 10-Hz high-energy pulse is stabilized by feedback an error signal to control grating seperation of the stretcher. This method can be applied to stabilize the CEP of a high-power laser system which has extremely low repetition rate.
