Silicides are promising thermoelectric materials due to the abundance and less toxicity of the elements. In particular, CrSi2 has high power factor, high melting point, and high oxidation resistance. However, its dimensionless figure of merit ZT is not high for practical use because the thermal conductivity is high. In this study, we prepared CrSi2 fine powder via soft chemical technique using metal hydrides to enhance ZT. By sintering the fine powder, grain boundaries is expected to increase in the sintered CrSi2, leading to reduce the thermal conductivity.
