[21a-W351-4] Negative Resistance of Ag Nanoparticle-Quinacridone Hybrid Films
Keywords:nanoparticle,negative resistance,organic semiconductor
We have found negative resistance in Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs) dispersed in quinacridone matrices. Quinacridone is an n-type organic semiconductor. The amount of the Ag nanoparticles was around 1%. The negative resistance appeared above +13V when the voltage was applied from -20V to +20V. When the initial voltage was applied from more negative region than -20V, the transition voltage for the appearance of the negative resistance shifted to much higher voltage region than +13V; the device seems to memorize the initial applied voltage. Application of the initial voltage could charge AgNPs which forms space charge in the hybrid film. Since the space charge limits the electron injection from the electrode, much higher voltage might be necessary to cause the negative resistance. A new model based on electron injection from the electrode to the conduction band of quinacridone together with tunneling conduction between AgNPs is proposed for the negative resistance.
