Field emission (FE) from an individual diameter-defined single walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) has been observed. The length of SWNT was 800 nm, the diameter was ca. 1.73 nm and the FE current of 0.39 × 10-6 A was obtained at 272 V. Although, the FE current from SWNT decreased to 56% during 15 s. The decrease of FE current is caused by Joule heating of the base Tungsten tip for SWNT emitter inducing a rise in the resistivity.
