Keywords:superconducting qubits

We observe a coherent coupling between a microwave resonator and thousands of superconducting flux qubits. The ensemble of flux qubits are embedded into a microwave resonator, and we observe a dispersive shift of 250 MHz in the spectrum.Such a large frequency shift represents a collective behavior of thousands of two-level systems, which is the largest number of coupled superconducting qubits realized so far. Our system provides a new approach to realize quantum information processing.
