Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC-Na)/ Sodium Styrene Sulfonate (SSS) hydrogels with grafted and crosslinked polymeric networks were prepared by gamma radiation at room temperature in the air. The obtained hydrogels were characterized by gel fraction, swelling ratio and IR spectroscopy. The ratio of 1:0 gave the highest gel fraction, compared with other ratios. The parameter such as contact time, initial concentration and temperature were studied to observe their effects on the adsorption capacity of the hydrogels. The adsorption kinetics and equilibrium isotherms were investigated using pseudo-second-order model and Langmuir model.
