As generally accepted, TeO2-based glasses have been attractive materials because of their wide optical window, high refractive index and third-order nonlinear optical properties. In this study, we fabricated 20Ag2O-80TeO2 nonlinear optical glasses by a melt-quenching method with alumina and platinum crucible, and evaluated glass structures and linear / nonlinear optical properties. The measurement of third nonlinear optical susceptibility Reχ(3) was conducted by a Z-scan method and the highest Reχ(3) was 1.19×10-12 esu (20Ag2O-80TeO2-2.5Al2O3 using Pt crucible) which is comparative to that of α-TeO2 single crystal.
