[6a-C11-2] Water collection by hierarchical patterning of surface wettability

Hiroyuki Kai1, Ryoma Toyosato1, Matsuhiko Nishizawa1 (1.Tohoku Univ.)

Keywords:microfluidic device, surface wettability

A superhydrophobic substrate was prepared by spraying an ethanol suspension of TiO2 nanoparticles and Capstone(R) fluorinated polymer on a PET film, according to the previous report. We designed a photomask with hierarchical branching, and irradiated UV light on the substrate to make a superhydrophilic fluidic pattern, which exhibited a directional fluid collection capability on the surface.
