[6a-PA3-1] Ultra-broadband operation of CW Terahertz Quantum-Cascade Laser Sources based on Difference Frequency Generation: toward a new type of THz frequency comb

Recently, monolithic terahertz (THz) sources based on intra-cavity difference-frequency generation (DFG) in dual-wavelength mid-infrared quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) have been demonstrated. In this talk, we present ultra-broadband THz DFG-QCL operating in continuous-wave mode, toward a new type of THz frequency comb. The devices emit continuously more than one octave in frequency between 1.55 and 3.5 THz below 180K.
