We need to clarify the generating mechanism of the damage caused by the irradiation of blue light. In this study, we investigate the effect of short-wavelength visible laser irradiation to cell nucleus and cytoplasm of living cells under the condition that the excitation light for fluorescent proteins has no influence on the cell viability and mitotic progression. In the case of irradiation energy of 72, 96 kJ/cm2, irradiation to the cell nucleus has more harmful than that to the cytoplasm, whereas the laser irradiation of 144, 168 kJ/cm2 to cell nucleus and cytoplasm cause the cell death with same probability.
