Uniaxially oriented thin film induced by “contact freezing” at supercooled liquid crystal state of mesogenic phthalocyanine, 1,4,8,11,15,18,22,25-octahexylphthalocyanine (C6PcH2) which exhibits high carrier mobility, has been fabricated. Cracks appeared in the cooling process were one of the problems for the carrier transport, however, we have succeeded in suppressing the cracks by blending a polymer, poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT). The molecular orientation, crystalline structure and electrical properties of the films have been investigated by polarizing microscope observation and measurements of polarized absorption spectrum, X-ray diffraction and the field effect mobility, and P3HT blend effects have been discussed.
