We have developed an external force assisted near-field illumination (EFA-NI) biosensor. Because the EFA-NI biosensor detects moving optical signal by a sandwich assay using magnetic particles and optical markers, it can easily distinguish between signals and noises in real environmental samples without washing and preprocessing steps. We repoted an experimental proof of aM level detection using the EFA-NI biosensor. In this study, Norovirus like particles (NoVLPs) added in a real environmental sample were detected using the EFA-NI biosensor.
