The V-trench biosensor is a miniature and sensitive sensor for fluoroimmunoassay. For further sensitivity, autofluorescence of the sensor chip substrate need to be totally removed. To this end, time-resolved imaging of the V-trench biosensor was performed utilizing the difference of fluorescence lifetime between luminescence signals and autofluorescence. A time-resolved imaging system equipped with a fast-gated image intensifier was developed, and the sensitivity was improved by 4-fold compared to the measurements without the time-resolved method. Moreover, the measurements using the CMOS image sensor for fluorescence lifetime imaging were performed.
