Keywords:metal, ablation, non-thermal

Based on our first-principles calculations assuming a two-temperature model, we have proposed that the non-thermal ablation of metals is caused by a dominant contribution of the electronic entropy. Subsequently, we tried to develop a mathematical model, which includes the effect of the electronic entropy, for simulation of the threshold laser fluence of the ablation. We are going to show that by using this model our simulations reproduce experimental results of metals with high accuracy.
