Among various methods of preparing REBCO thin films, fluorine-free MOD is one of the most promising method for mass production. Our group has been focusing on Cl-addition to the YBCO raw solution, which results in generation of oxychloride Ba2Cu3O4Cl2 (Ba2342). It was found that Ba2342 precipitates helped biaxial alignment of YBCO matrix and improved Jc properties. It is known in studies of sintered bulks that Br as well as Cl can be the candidate for the halogen sites in Ba2342 crystal structure. We will report the effects of Br-addition to the FF-MOD processed YBCO films in comparison to those of Cl-addition.
