[8a-A203-3] Spin Dynamics in Semiconductor Quantum Dots and Application to Optical Devices

III-V compound semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) show excellent optical properties, where electron-spin states are temporarily conserved. Spin-relaxation phenomena of electrons or excitons in InGaAs QDs are introduced. Then, potential applications of QDs to spin-functional optical devices are discussed. QDs tunnel-coupled with a 2-dimensional electron system have been studied, which enable one to efficiently capture and inject spins into QDs.
