[14a-412-11] Sensing Brownian motion of nanodiamonds by spins of nitrogen-vacancy centers

Nitrogen vacancy defect centers in diamond possess isolated electronic spins that can be efficiently intialized and sensitively detected by means of optical techniques. Electronics spins in NV centers can probe nanoscale magnetic environment and other physical parameters such as temperature, and electric field. Here we report that rotational dynamics of 25-nm-sized nanodiamonads in water can be probed by this technique.
