△ [14p-F202-8] Structure Optimization of Metal-Dielectric Multi-Layer for High-Efficiency Daytime Radiative Cooling
Keywords:thermal radiation, dielectric multilayer, optimization
Air conditioners consume 53% of total electric power at the peak time in Japan. It is important to develop an efficient cooling technology without external electric power for solving the energy problems. One of the most promising approaches to this problem is radiative cooling, which spontaneously decreases the temperature of an object based on thermal radiation. However, such a cooling mechanism is naturally difficult to achieve during daytime since the incident solar power is larger than the thermal radiation power. To overcome this limitation, we design and optimize metal-dielectric multi-layer structures for the daytime radiative cooling to selectively emit the thermal radiation at 8-13 μm while to perfectly reflect the incident sun light. We will report the numerical and experimental results on the presentation.
