[14p-P6-9] Micrometer-Sized Flexible O-ring Laser

Flexible micro-ring lasers were fabricated by using silicone O-rings of 750 μm diameter. The rubber rings were immersed in a 2-propanol solution of rhodamine for 30 min to diffuse the dye into the rubber. When the ring was excited by a laser pulse (532 nm, 5 ns), a strong whispering gallery mode emission emerged from the ring edge. When the excitation light intensity exceeded 20 μJ/mm2, the fluorescence peak grew nonlinearly and the peak width decreased to 6 nm.
