Organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) represent a promising next-generation light source because of their printable and flexible device structures. However, the charge states and the degradation mechanisms in organic light-emitting materials and OLEDs have not yet been completely understood. In this study, we report on electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy of organic devices, such as metal-insulator-semiconductor (MIS) diodes and OLEDs with a blue-light-emitting oligomer material ADN, to investigate the charge states and the charge-injection dynamics in these devices under device operation from a microscopic viewpoint. We have studied the correlation with the degradation of the device performance.
