[16p-316-3] Analysis of optical rays in a KTN crystal for improvement of deflector performance

Optical deflectors made of KTa1-xNbxO3(KTN) are high-speed optical beam deflectors that work by using the strong electrooptic(EO) effect of KTN. In this deflector, optical rays are gradually bent by an index distribution that is formed by the EO effect and injected electrons. Collision of the rays with the KTN walls gives a limitation to the deflection performance. Here we report investigations of such rays, which were made to optimize the resolvable spot number.
