We found that multiwall MoS2 nanotubes can be grown by CVD using FeO nanoparticles as catalysts. We examined the effect of size and shapes of nanoparticles and found that the catalytic activity for the naowire growth decreased when the size is larger than 20nm. When the FeO nanoparticles had octahedral shape, the MoS2 nanowires are formed. When they were round shape, SiO2 nanowires from SiO2 substrate were grown. We will discuss the growth mechanism by these findings.
