For the purpose of examining the effect of blue light with respect to living cells, we carried out quantitative evaluation of phototoxic property of short-wavelength light using live cell imaging. Compared with the 405 nm laser irradiation, 450 nm laser irradiation was observed to cause a relatively lower rate of cell death. Cell death rate was confirmed to lead to 50% in the case of a 450 nm laser of 168 kJ/cm2 light energy and in the case of a 405 nm laser of 72 kJ/cm2 light energy, respectively.
