It is a key issues to control of the molecular alignment in soft materials to improve their performance and high function based on its anisotropy in dielectric constant, refractive index and dipole moment. Among the conventional method for controlling molecular alignment, photoalignment method is one of the techniques, inducing the modulation of change in alignment remotely. Recently, anthraquinone and oligothiophene derivatives were found to enhance the photoalignment behavior of liquid crystals (LCs). There are many efforts to find effective dyes for inducing reorientation of LCs. However, the feature for effective dyes is still unclear up to now. In this study, we explored the alignment changes in LC system doped with nickel complexes with a laser beam.
