Differential interference contrast (DIC) observation is powerful method for the thin transparent sample such as a biological cell. Then, DIC prism which is an important element is usually extremely expensive and the shearing distance is fixed. If we use a LC cell as a DIC prism, DIC system which is an electronic tunable and a simple structure can be attained. In this work, We simulated polarization states in LC layer of thick cell and thin cell, and investigated a variation of the lateral shearing property by some cell parameters.
