Layered LiNbO2 is a rare material where Nb3+ (4d2) and oxygen forms triangular prismatic NbO6. This triangular prismatic structure is the same as transition metal dichalcogenides MS2, and superconductivity is reported in Li-deficient phase Li0.5NbO2. However, physical properties are not adequately elucidated and synthesis of superconducting thin films has not ever been attained. In this study, we have synthesized superconducting Li1-xNbO2 thin films and elucidated various properties. Additionally, changing Li content variously by Li charging/discharging reactions in a electrochemical cell, we have also demonstrated the reversible control of the superconducting properties.
