[18a-232-5] Variation of Resonator Modes Caused by Stability of Periodic Orbits

The ray-wave correspondence in two-dimensional optical cavities is an interesting research topic from a viewpoint of fundamental physics. In this work, I investigated resonator modes in quasi-stadium optical cavities which consist of two curved mirrors and two straight sidewall mirrors focusing on the boundary between stable and unstable resonator conditions. The resonator modes in which optical beams propagate along the individual periodic orbit still remain when the resonator condition is changed from a stable condition to a slightly unstable condition. As the instability increases further, the resonator modes turn into complicated resonator modes in which optical beams propagate along multiple unstable periodic orbits.
