[18p-222-10] Optically accelerated crystallization of supramolecular protein molecules under laser trapping
Keywords:laser trapping, protein, light-induced in situ crystallization
We have reported that the crystallization probability of hen egg white lysozyme in heavy water is improved by laser irradiation at the air/sample solution interface. In this research, we choose iron storage supramolecular protein, ferritin, as a crystallization target. Ferritin possesses highly symmetric spherical shell structures and these protein spheres are connected through cadmium ion bridges. Thus we expect enhanced crystallization of ferritins similar to crystallization of colloidal particles under laser irradiation; real-time crystallization, due to its high symmetry. We will report real-time crystallization of spherical protein molecules by laser trapping
