Cells actively use surrounding mechanical environments and stimuli to control their functions. We investigate the physiological responses of cells to mechanical stimuli using a localized stress wave induced by near infrared femtosecond laser pulse focused in water. In this presentation, we report intracellular Ca²⁺ response led by femtosecond laser impulse and its effect on biological function.
