Keywords:detonation nanodiamond (DND), monolayer, nanosheet

We have already reported that optically-anisotropic nanosheets are generated at the air/water interface when an aqueous colloidal solution of detonation nanodiamond (DND) was injected in water beneath the monolayer of arachidic acid formed at the interface. Here we report that the D-band is observed in Raman spectra suggesting the existence of sp3-hybridized carbon atoms in the nanosheet. We postulate that the nanosheet consists of DND particles. We further discuss the structure and properties of the nanosheet based on BAM and FT-IR data.
