The critical current density Jc in the RE-based cuprate (REBCO) superconducting film is significantly degraded at grain boundaries. In recent years, REBCO films are used for application operated at low temperatures and high magnetic fields. However, there are few reports on Jc at grain boundaries in REBCO films in those conditions.
In this study, we fabricated a SmBa2Cu3Oy film with various misorietation angles using bicrystal substrates and measured Jc at grain boundaries at low temperatures and high fields up to 4.2 K and 24 T. Finally, the flux pinning at the grain boundaries were discussed based on the flux pinning for the Abrikosov-Josephson vortex
