Kindai University's research reactor, UTR-KINKI, is a reactor developed for university education and research, and started operation in November, 1961 as the first private and university-owned reactor in Japan. The rated thermal power is 1 W, and as a reactor with extremely high safety, the reactor has been used for nuclear education and research in Japan for more than half a century. In this presentation, the characteristics of the reactor, the overview of the utilizations in education and research will be reported.
