Quantum well structures are promising materials for multi-junction application as their bandgaps and lattice constants are simultaneously adjustable. Nevertheless, quantum wells trap photogenerated carriers and thus degrade the device electronic properties. To systematically design such devices, we propose a new technique which uses the effective-mobility approach to model and optimize quantum well structures.
