[20a-431B-9] Analysis of noncontact optical manipulation of an object levitated by magneto-Archimedes effect

Non-contact optical manipulation of an object levitated in a magnetic field by magneto-Archimedes effect was demonstrated. The position change of the sample (SrAl2O4:Eu, Dy/polypropylene complex) by light irradiation was observed. It is assumed that the magnetic susceptibility is proportional to the intensity of light emitted from the sample. Therefore, we measured temporary change of light emitted from the sample after UV light irradiation and calculated the change of magnetic susceptibility of the sample, and then estimated the position of the sample from the results. In this presentation, we compared the experimental results with the above calculated ones and discuss the mechanism of the motion of the levitating object.
