▲ [20p-211A-10] Electromagnetic simulation for nanocolumn rectennas
Keywords:Nanocolumn, Rectennas
Optical rectennas could be used for solar cells that are inexpensive and efficient. We propose as a potential candidate for optical rectenna array to use nanocolumns, which are highly ordered GaN nanopillars, covered with a metal in combination with Metal-Insulator-Metal (M-I-M) diodes. COMSOL Multiphysics was used for simulating a 500 nm long GaN nanocolumn having a diameter of 50 nm and covered by a 20 nm thick layer of gold when light was shined at 30 degrees to the top of the nanocolumn. The wavelength of the first Longitudinal Mode (LM) peak was 1600 nm and the wavelength of the second LM peak was 800 nm, making the antenna usable for the near-infrared spectrum of electromagnetic waves. The The LM peaks were redshifted by a factor of 1.45 from the peaks predicted by the classical antenna theory.
