[20p-225B-4] Structural analysis of the actin filament and new electron microscopy techniques

Akihiro Narita1 (1.Nagoya Univ.)

Keywords:electron microscopy, single particle analysis, pulse electron microscope

The actin filament is a motor system which moves unidirectionally. Cofilin accelerates this movement by 200 times. We obtained a structure of a cofilin decorated actin filament at 3.8 Å resolution by cryo-electron microscopy, which can explain many features of the cofilin functions. We also report new electron microscopy techniques which are being developed to overcome current limitations of cryo-electron microscopy.
