In this work we present a new table-top design that solely based on Tm:YAP takes the capability of solid-state lasers centered around 2 μm, to 2 GW peak power after compression using a diode-pumped ring cavity regenerative amplifier. A supercontinuum has been generated in a YAG crystal using a small portion of the output which exhibits the potential application of the proposed system as a great candidate for MIR-OPA systems as a straightforward pumping source.
