Heat recovery solar cell (HERC solar cell) --- a new concept of a solar cell which enables to recover heat to be abandoned in conventional solar cells --- is proposed. HERC solar cell can have the maximum conversion efficiency exceeding the detailed balance limit by fully utilizing the heat, while it does not require fast carrier extraction within the carrier thermalization time (of picosecond order) which is a requirement for hot carrier solar cells. As a result, HERC solar cell can be realized even with a Si absorber. In the presentation, we will show the concept and the device performance.
