A figure-9 fiber laser using a nonreciprocal phase shifter is a laser that has overcome the difficult self-mode-locking of the figure-8 laser. We have proposed a novel figure-9 laser configuration using an acousto-optic modulator, and succeeded in mode-locking operation. In this study, by changing the driving frequency of the acousto-optic modulator, the nonreciprocal phase shift is optimized and a more stable mode-locked laser is realized.
