Infrared absorption by molecules in the vicinity of metallic nano-particle array is significantly enhanced. We found that the enhancement factor depends on the gap / particle size ratio and clarified that is explained by the Square Columnar Model (SCM). External field of nano-particle array can’t be evaluated by SCM. Therefore the electric field intensity outside the nano-particle array and the enhanced site were verified by rigorous coupled wave analysis (RCWA).
