Two cell types, myocytes and fibroblasts, mainly constitute the heart. In addition, ion channels, including mechanosensitive channels, play an important role to synchronize the beat. However, heart development among these is still unknown. We have developed an instrument to apply mechanical stimulus to myocytes on a dish in order to observe the slow modification of these cells by the stimulus.
