Low-dimensional molecular network is expected for precursor of graphene-like materials. Such molecular networks are prepared using vacuum deposition or solution method. The solution method has an advantage of simplicity. In the present study, we prepared network of Br- and N- containing planar molecules on Au(111) using solvent evaporation method. The prepared structures were investigated using scanning tunneling microscopy in ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) at room temperature. We chose 2,4,6-tris(4-bromophenyl)triazine (TBPT) as sample molecule. The molecules were dissolved into 1,4-butanediol. The solution was applied onto Au(111) substrate and solvent were completely evaporated. In STM observation, the propeller-shaped molecules were successfully imaged. Two types of the molecular appearance were recognized. This results is attributed to the variation of molecule-substrate interactions depending on the difference of adsorption sites.
