Surface-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (SALDI/MS) has been used for analysis of biomolecules and drugs. Desorption and ionization efficiencies of analytes on SALDI is dependent on the surface condition of nanomaterials and physicochemical properties of analytes. For preparation of the nanomaterials, skills for chemical synthesis and/or equipment for vapor deposition are required. We focused on the mist-CVD method which could prepare nanomaterials rapidly and simply. In this study, the mist-CVD method without the process of high thermal deposition was developed for SALDI. Furthermore, we evaluated detection sensitivity of biological samples using the improved mist-CVD systems.
