Photocatalytic properties of graphitic carbon film have been reported. It has a bandgap of about 2.8 eV. The film can be applied to a semiconductor material by preparing it. The graphitic carbon films were prepared by evaporating guanidine carbonate as a source at several temperatures. Photoconductivity was observed with irradiating monochromatic light. The spectra of photosensitivity coincide with those of optical absorption.
