[20a-C102-6] Autonomous Operation of Neuron Circuits Using Thermal Degree of Freedom in Phase Transition Materials

Takeaki Yajima1, Tomonori Nishimura1, Akira Toriumi1 (1.The Univ. of Tokyo)

Keywords:metal-insulator transition, VO2, neuromorphic

Dedicated hardware for the AI algorithm is necessary for lower power consumption. Most of the conventional neuron circuits have used capacitors, which have hindered the scale-down of the neuron circuits. In this paper, the thermal degree of freedom in the phase transition material VO2 is exploited for the capacitor-less neuron circuits. The autonomous operation of the capacitor-less neuron circuit is also demonstrated.
