We have fabricated double-heterostructures using crystalline films of (thiophene/phenylene) co-oligomers (TPCO) by slide boat method. Since the long axis of the TPCO-based molecule grows almost upright on the substrate, it is difficult to inject carriers when forming the EL devices. On the other hand, when TPCO with a cyano group attached to both ends of the molecule is used, the molecular long axis lies on the substrate and the carrier injection characteristics become good. From this point of view, we started the thin film fabrication by slide boat method using ciano-substituted type TPCO.
