[18p-E312-1] Accelerator Mass Spectrometry and advanced isobar separation technique

Hiroyuki Matsuzaki1 (1.MALT, Univ. of Tokyo)

Keywords:Accelerator Mass Spectrometry, isobar interference, near mass interference

To obtain extremely high sensitivity in a mass spectrometry, two major interferences are "isobar interference" and "near mass interference". Accelerator Mass Spectrometry overcomes these by the combination of a negative ion source and a tandem electrostatic accelerator. This presentation will re-evaluate the technique used in conventional Accelerator Mass Spectrometry and survey other approaches including laser technique and positive ion source. Finally the technical aspect of the future prospect will be made.
