▼ [18p-PB1-16] Enhancement of nonreciprocity in propagation of surface acoustic wave excited by magnetoelastic interaction
Keywords:spintronics, magnetoelastic interaction, surface acoustic wave
To implement high-frequency surface acoustic wave (SAW) device with rectifying effect, the study on nonreciprocal propagation of SAW is of importance. In the early work by Weiler et al., it was demonstrated that the SAW amplitude could be modulated using magnetostriction effect in Ni film fabricated between interdigital transducers (IDTs). In the case of Rayleigh-type SAW, both shear and longitudinal strains cause magnetoelastic effect and former plays an important role in nonreciprocity of the SAW propagation. In this study, we prepared the SAW device combined with a bilayer consisting of ferromagnet and Si to modulate the ratio of shear and longitudinal strains in the ferromagnetic layer. We found the nonreciprocal propagation of SAW was greatly enhanced when a spin wave was excited in the bilayer.
